A Guide to Giving a Helmet, by Trauma Void:

Here are some things to consider when getting a helmet:

How do I know which helmet to buy?

Certain disciplines tend to favor different colors or finishes of helmets. At Trauma Void we offer both a Smooth and Microfiber option in Black, Navy, and Brown. The microfiber helmets have a shimmery pinstripe that adds a pop of color and creates an element of flash. Our smooth helmets are sometimes referred to as a matte finish and provide a classic.

What’s the difference between the EQ3 and Lynx?

The Lynx comes in three sizes: Small, Medium, and Large and is designed with a retention system, making the size adjustable. It also has a deeper profile and only comes in a black, smooth option. The EQ3 has nine sizes 53-61 and comes with a round and oval liner. It’s available in all the colors and finishes listed above.

How do I know what size to get?

We know it isn’t always easy to measure someone’s head in secret. If you know your rider’s size, awesome, you can probably skip this section. If you don’t, here are some tips. Ask their instructor or a friend at the barn to measure their head for a routine helmet-check. If this isn’t possible, but you’re pretty sure you know your rider’s size, consider our Lynx. The Trauma Void Lynx has a retention system and comes in Small, Medium, and Large. If you know the size range they fall into, they can adjust the helmet to their head once they get it. In case you aren’t in a position to have a “routine helmet check” and have no idea what size head your helmet recipient has, check out our helmet gift certificates, easy-to-purchase and easy-to-redeem and will allow your rider to choose their helmet size, style, and color.

What happens if the helmet doesn’t fit?

If the helmet meets our return policy, it can be exchanged or returned for a refund.

Is there anything else I should know about getting a helmet as a gift?

Of course! Here are some things we would want to know if we were buying a helmet for someone else. Our helmets should be registered within 30 days of purchase to be eligible for our Crash Replacement Policy. Any helmet that has been involved in a fall is not recommended to be ridden in. At Trauma Void, we have an awesome replacement policy that if a helmet is involved in a fall it can be replaced at a discount which is pro-rated on the length of time the helmet has been owned. If the helmet isn’t registered, proof of purchase will be required.
